Kids'
Sports
Every
elementary, middle and high school has an athletic program.
This can take the form of organized activities and/or competitive
sports teams like baseball, basketball, football, swimming,
and soccer which compete with other local and regional school
teams. Check your child's school programs to learn more about
the athletic department's offerings.
In
addition to school sports, intramural leagues in your city
or neighborhood can be a good introduction to sports for your
child. Local clubs like the Boys and Girls
Clubs of America and the YMCA also sponsor teams and tournaments.
Annual
Sports Competitions
The
Junior Orange Bowl Festival, offered in conjunction
with the famous Orange Bowl college football event on January
1, schedules a wide range of competitive events in running,
swimming, soccer, bowling, chess and even creative writing.
